Acute renal failure: update.
نویسنده
چکیده
Acute renal failure (ARF) is an abrupt decline in renal function, sufficient to result in the retention of nia'ogenous wastes, that is not immediately reversible by manipulation of extrarenal factors. Acute renal failure is not defined in terms of urine volume, and may be present both in oliguric and non-oliguric states. The obligatory daily osmolar load (urea, uric acid, ammonia, etc.) excreted is 400-500 mOsm. This represents the normal products of metabolic activity. When urine volume is less than 400 ml per 24 hours, normal osmolar clearance is impossible and nitrogenous wastes accumulate. Such a patient is in oliguric renal failure (ORF). Non-oliguric failure (NORF) occurs when the urine output is excessive for the physiologic state of the patient.

Acute renal failure due to renal lymphomatous infiltration as the initial manifestation
A male patient with acute renal failure (ARF) due to large B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma infiltration of kidney is presented. The diagnosis was suspected because of coincidence of ARF and tumor lysis syndrome non-responsive to conservative renal therapies. A renal biopsy confirmed diagnosis and appropriate chemotherapy led to complete improvement of renal function.
متن کاملEffect of aminophylline on renal function of brain injury patients with acute renal failure admitted to the intensive care unit
Introdution: Acute renal failure is a common complication in the brain injury patients. Released adenosine in injury can reduce renal glomerular filtration. Aminophylline is an inhibitor of releasing adenosine. So, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of intravenous aminophylline in renal function of brain-injured patients with acute renal failure admitted to the intensive care unit. Method...

Neonatal sepsis is common specially in developing countries and is the main cause of neonatal mortality. Among the organs which are influenced during sepsis kidney is associated with mortality rate. This study was undertaken to determine the association between acute renal and sex, age, birth weight, type of treatment, gestational age, duration of treatment and the history of asphyxia. In this c...
متن کاملEFFEC T OF HEMODI ALYSIS ON TRACE ELEMENTS IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE AND CHRONIC RENAL FAILURE
Hemodialysis is being implicated in the development of metabolic disturbances, as complications have been observed and the role of trace metals in their development has been questioned. In 78 renal failure patients who underwent hemodialysis, serum levels of zinc and copper were determined before and after first hemodialysis. Acute and chronic renal failure patients were found to have lowe...
متن کاملCystone, a well-known herbal formulation improves renal function in rats with acute renal failure (ARF) induced by Glycerol intoxication
The present study was aimed to evaluate the beneficial effect of Cystone syrup in an experimental model of glycerol-induced acute renal failure (ARF) in rats. Biochemical parameters, kidney weight and histopathological evaluation were performed to conclude the beneficial effect of Cystone syrup. Administration of single dose of 50% v/v glycerol (8ml/kg.i.m) caused severe renal dysfunction assoc...
